​Southern Elegance Dance Studio is an independent studio in Huntsville, AL geared towards meeting your individual needs and desires. We service the entire North Alabama and South Tennessee areas. There are no contracts and no pressure, and no partner is necessary. We're a member of the Better Business Bureau - check our North Alabama BBB rating. We're proud that our competitive dancers currently at Southern Elegance have won a total of 18 National titles in USA Dance, including 3 National Championship Titles (the only ones in the area!) - far more all other dance studios in North Alabama and Southern Tennessee combined. Since 2008, Southern Elegance is the only local studio asked to participate every year in support of the charity event 'Stars Dancing For Heals". All the pictures on our web site (aside from obvious artwork and silhouettes) are Southern Elegance dancers. Our Friday night parties feature an elegant ambiance with the finest contemporary ballroom and latin music.

 

We offer instruction in International Standard (Waltz, Tango, V Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep), International Latin (Samba, Cha Cha, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive) American Smooth (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, V Waltz), American Rhythm (Cha Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, Bolero, Mambo) as well as Country Western and popular Club dances such as Salsa, Merengue, West Coast Swing.

 

Rick Jones, the owner, is a certified teacher with the National Dance Council of America. He has over 20 years of teaching experience and is also a 3 time Theater Arts Finalist in national competitions."I started my dance career in 1994. Since that time I've not only helped people to become better dancers and learn to enjoy life more, I have also for several years trained other dance instructors in the industry today."

Rick's wife, Elizabeth Jones started her dance career with Fred Astaire Dance Studio in 1988. "That is when I first stepped onto the ballroom dance floor and I have hardly been off of it since!! I not only enjoy teaching and dancing socially, I have also enjoyed competing at both amateur and professional levels."

 

Together Rick and his wife Elizabeth have over 25 years experience teaching in the dance industry. They constantly take continuing education coaching from some of the top world champions to stay abreast of the latest dance technique and style so they can give you - their student the best instruction. Their jobs, as your instructor, are not to only teach you how to dance, but to get a better understanding of what it is you want out of your dancing. We have specialized programs to suit beginners through advanced dancers in any style of social partner dance: East Coast Swing, Foxtrot, Hustle, Waltz, Tango, West Coast Swing, Argentine Tango, Rhumba, Mambo, Merengue, Salsa, Nightclub Two Step, Cha Cha, Samba, Quick Step, American and International Style Ballroom Smooth and Latin Dances, Bronze, Silver and Gold level competitions, Viennese Waltz, and the Polka. No partner is necessary! 

 

Our venue, with a 3200 sq ft floating dance floor and state-of-the-art Bose Speakers, is available to rent for that special occasion. We also have a special offer (the best deal in Huntsville!) for dancesport competitors simply looking for quality practice space. We also offer free practice time if you're taking weekly lessons - no "membership" costs.
